VILLAGE VIRTUAL BULLETIN BOARD
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR:
DECORUM AT BOARD MEETINGS
In recent months there have been a number of instances when remarks from attendees got a bit unruly, argumentative, and accusatory. The Village Board of Trustee meetings are governed by the Village of Innsbrook, Ordinance Five and Robert's Rules of Order. In order to conduct meetings in a civil and respectful fashion and allow the trustees to focus on the business on the agenda, I thought it necessary to publish the following comments.
All individuals wishing to speak will be required to fill out a speaker card before being allowed to speak The speaker card must state your name, address, and a phone number or email address. In addition, you must state the topic and provide a summary of the comments you wish to make. The Chair reserves the right to read the comments on the speaker card with the speaker being limited to clarifying any questions the Chair or any trustee may request. All comments are to be directed to the Chair and not directed to any other trustee or person.
Each person will be allowed 5 minutes. If remarks are made that are not on the topic stated on the speaker card, are protracted, repetitive, irrelevant or abusive, the speaker will be interrupted by the Chair and found to be out of order. Failure to comply with the rulings of the Chair may result in a directive for the individual to leave the meeting. Shouting, finger pointing, name calling, or attacking the character of a trustee or anyone else will not be tolerated. Section Fifteen of Village of Innsbrook, Ordinance Five states that a disturbance at meetings is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine among other penalties.
The Board of Trustees are your fellow residents who volunteer their time and talents to act in the best interest of the Village of Innsbrook. The trustees welcome your input. I want to encourage you to contact one of more of the trustees outside of the business meetings to better communicate your suggestions and concerns. The Board of Trustee meetings are business meetings and are designed to address items on the agenda in an orderly manner. Thank you for your anticipated compliance and understanding with the foregoing procedures.
