RESOLUTION NO. 2017-1 (Passed April 11, 2017)
OPPOSING THE CONVERSION OF INTERSTATE 70
INTO A TOLL ROAD

VILLAGE VIRTUAL  BULLETIN BOARD

NEW YEARS MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR:

As we reflect on the past year, I want to express how proud I am of our Village of Innsbrook Board of Trustees.  Your Board of Trustees know the importance of following procedures set out in the Village Ordinances and the Rules of Procedures which guide the decision-making process.  This was especially evident during the past year involving two controversial issues.

  1. Wage & Whiskers purchased a parcel of land located in unincorporated Warren Countyand petitioned to be annexed to the Village of Innsbrook.  They planned to build and operate an animal shelter which would serve not only the Village of Innsbrook, but also care for animals found anywhere in Warren County. The controversy arose when Wags & Whiskers installed an above ground sewage lagoon in violation of the Special Use Permit and site plan previously submitted and unanimously approved in 2022 by the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Trustees.  This was a major change requiring additional Public Hearings and submission of another site plan. The Village of Innsbrook Board of Trustees voted unanimously in May 2024 to deny the use of a sewage lagoon to treat the waste.  The Village of Innsbrook simply wants Wags & Whiskers to install an underground septic system as originally proposed and unanimously approved.
  2. The other controversional issue involves the construciton of the our Village Hall.  It was always the intention of the founders of the Village of Innsbrook in 1998  that the current location be temporary.  The merits of buying land and constructing a Village Hall is set out in the 2012 Comprehensive Plan (see  Page 36 'Future Land Use') and has been considered and promoted by previous Boards over the past 10+ years. My predecessor, who served as Chairman of the Board for several years before me, negotiated the purchase of the site where the new Village Hall is being constructed.  All members of your Board of Trustees have and continue to participate in the decision-making process related to the construction, size,, and design of the Village Hall building.  Your new Village Hall is scheduled to be completed this Spring.  The  Village Hall will not only be utilized as the Village Administration center, but also provide a venue for community events.

A General Election will be held on April 8th.  Three Trustee positions will be on the ballot.  Dan Reuter and Cynthia Cook have filed for re-election.  In additon, five other residents have filed as candidates.  They are:  Lynda Baker, Linda Buschman, Michael Caton, Alice Jenson, and Sandra  Zahadra.  The Board of Trustees will hold a 'Meet the Candidates' night on March 11 at 5:00 p.m. at the Charette Creek Commons.  Our Village Planner, Todd Strieler, will also make a presentation at this meeting of the updated Comprehensive Plan for the Village of Innsbeook.
